How will new Ofsted school ratings work?
Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, is implementing a new system for rating schools in England.
Under the new framework, schools will be judged on quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision.
Inspectors will use a 4-point grading system to assess schools: outstanding, good, requires improvement, or inadequate.
The new ratings aim to provide a more holistic assessment of schools, taking into account not just exam results but also the overall well-being of students.
Schools will receive more frequent inspections under the new system, with shorter notice periods to ensure a more accurate representation of day-to-day operations.
The focus will be on ensuring that schools are providing a broad and balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
Ofsted will also work closely with schools to provide support and guidance for improvement where necessary.
The new ratings system is designed to provide a clearer and more transparent assessment of schools, helping parents and policymakers make informed decisions.
Overall, the goal is to drive continuous improvement in schools and ensure that all students receive a high-quality education.
